This morning on Meet the Press, the always-heinous Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY21) was…yep, heinous, referring to 1/6/21 insurrectionists as “hostages,” standing by Trump’s Hitler-like “poisoning the blood of our country” comments, refusing to commit to certifying the 2024 election, doubling down on dangerous/false 2020 election denialism, etc, etc. In case you happen to think this is an aberration, the fact is that Stefanik has been spewing out extreme rhetoric for years, including echoing white supremacist “Great Replacement” lunacy; calling Democrats “pedo grifters,” “illegals” and “Communist Truth Ministers”; endorsing George Santos; etc.
So in a sane world, obviously this woman would be completely TOXIC, with no responsible politician coming anywhere near her. And yet, sadly, we do NOT live in a sane world, at least when it comes to Republicans like Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA02), who has been endorsed by Stefanik and even is launching her 2024 reelection campaign with Stefanik later today. Appalling – and yet one more reason to make sure that Kiggans is defeated this November!
