Jen Kiggans Marches Toward Nationwide Abortion Ban Before 51st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Today, Jen Kiggans and House Republicans passed two bills that chip away at women’s constitutional freedoms and attempt to deny them access to essential reproductive health care.

These measures would use federal funds to spread misinformation and prevent vulnerable communities from seeking essential health care. The first of these was even endorsed by the extreme, anti-choice National Right to Life Committee, an organization that advocates for a national abortion ban.

Jen Kiggans is already on the record voting to take away resources from active duty servicemembers forced to travel out-of-state to get an abortion – despite representing over 80,000 veterans in Virginia’s Second Congressional District. She also called abortion a “shiny object” and compared having an abortion to getting a “nose job.”

Today’s dangerous votes come as new polling shows historic levels of support for abortion access, including 66% of voters who oppose ongoing Republican efforts to pass a national abortion ban.

House Republicans are doing everything they can to restrict abortion access, no matter how unpopular.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“Another day, another anti-abortion vote by Jen Kiggans. Time and time again, she refuses to stand up for Virginians’ freedoms, instead choosing to stand with extreme MAGA efforts to ban abortion nationwide no matter how unpopular or dangerous these relentless attacks are.”
