ICYMI: Glenn Youngkin Embraces Extreme Trump-Vance Agenda With Devastating Consequences for Virginians
This week, Glenn Youngkin, a proud Donald Trump and JD Vance ally, went all in to embrace their dangerous and extreme agenda that put hundreds of thousands of Virginians at risk of losing their jobs and livelihoods.
On Monday, WVTF reported that Glenn Youngkin said Virginia’s over 140,000 civilian federal employees who are at risk of being replaced by extreme MAGA loyalists “have little to fear” because they would have no problem finding other “fabulous opportunities” if Donald Trump and JD Vance overhaul the federal bureaucracy. The Trump campaign has explicitly outlined their intention to bring back Schedule F in their Agenda 47, which would strip protections from civil servants. As a senator, in his own words, JD Vance has also proposed to “fire every civil servant.”
On Tuesday, Glenn Youngkin refused to remove Lindsey Burke, a Project 2025 author, from George Mason University’s Board of Visitors. Burke wrote the chapter on the Department of Education in Project 2025, stating that “federal education policy should be limited, and ultimately, the federal Department of Education should be eliminated.” As The Guardian reported, this means thousands of teachers could lose their jobs and low-income students could lose grants. Burke also wants to abolish student loan forgiveness programs, which have benefited thousands of Virginians.
It’s clear that Glenn Youngkin would rather cozy up to Trump and Vance than do his job as a governor by advocating for Virginia’s economy.
In response, DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker shared the following statement:
“With a net worth of $400 million, Glenn Youngkin doesn’t have any concept of what it is like to not only lose a job, healthcare, and benefits, but on top of that, for many Virginians, to be the sole provider of their families. It is not only insulting for Youngkin to completely disregard the impact that Donald Trump and JD Vance’s extreme plans would have on Virginia’s middle class, but it is disappointing that he continues to prove his reckless carelessness as a governor in charge of Virginia’s economy. But Glenn Youngkin is right about one thing: Virginians have little to fear because we will defeat Donald Trump and JD Vance and their weird and out-of-touch agenda at the ballot box in November.”
