Video: VA10 GOP Nominee Skips NAACP Forum; Eugene Vindman and Suhas Subramanyam Skewer VA07 GOP Nominee Derrick Anderson’s Lies, Nonsense on Abortion, Project 2025, etc.

Last night, there was a VA07 and VA10 candidates forum, put on by the Prince William County NAACP and Prince William County Chamber of Commerce. See below for video and a few takeaways, including:

  • Where was VA10 Republican nominee Mike Clancy? The forum organizers noted that they had made repeated calls, sent repeated emails to Clancy’s campaign and to Republican committees, but despite all that, Clancy was a no-show. Weird, but in the end, it gave VA10 Democratic nominee the opportunity to introduce himself to the voters, talk about HIS ideas and HIS vision, and also to help demolish VA07 GOP nominee Derrick Anderson’s lies and nonsense. Great stuff!
  • Why on earth does the VA07 GOP’s far-right nominee, Derrick Anderson, keep ranting about how he wants more more MORE forums and debates when, as you can see below, he’s so bad at them? Does he actually think that the more VA07 voters see of him, the more will vote for him? Because the opposite is far more likely the case.
  • As you watch the forum video, you’ll see that it was a relentless stream of lies and nonsense (mostly the same ones as at the previous night’s forum) by VA07 GOP nominee Derrick Anderson. In this case, Anderson spewed out b.s. on Project 2025 (which is very much the 2024 GOP platform, but which Anderson pleads ignorance about), the economy (which is VERY strong, but which Anderson keeps claiming is a disaster), etc.
  • And now for the highlight of the evening – check out this exchange on women’s reproductive freedom, which is SO revealing, as Anderson desperately tries to dodge giving a straight answer, and as VA07 Democratic nominee Eugene Vindman calls him out for doing so.

Moderator: “Do you support a woman’s right to choose, yes or no?”
Derrick Anderson: “I support the states to be able to make those decision that best fits those states.”
Moderator: “Do you support a woman’s right to choose?”
Anderson: “Look I’ve answered the question twice now”
Eugene Vindman: “Derrick is dodging…he’s being dishonest and frankly he’s also been being dishonorable ”

And here’s the vide of Anderson absurdly claiming he has no idea what Project 2025 is, says it’s weird to actually read it, etc. LOL

Bottom line: I honestly wish there would be as many VA07 forums as possible, because I see no way that wouldn’t help Eugene Vindman. But whatever, there are plenty, and as you watch the following video,, you’ll see why the choice is so clear in this race – Eugene Vindman, obviously.

From DPVA:

NEW: Derrick Anderson Refuses to Say Whether He Supports a Woman’s Right to Choose

Last night during a forum in Prince William County, 7th Congressional District Republican Nominee Derrick Anderson refused to answer a simple “yes” or “no” question asked by the moderator: “Do you support a women’s right to choose?”

Instead of answering the question, Anderson said: “I support the states to be able to make those decisions that best fits those states.”

When the moderator asked the same basic question again, for a second time, Anderson said: “Look, I’ve answered the question twice now.”

Anderson knows his extreme position on reproductive rights is out-of-step with Virginians in the 7th District, which is why he is hiding it.

“Virginia women deserve to know whether Derrick Anderson would support their right to choose,” DPVA Chairwoman Susan Swecker said. “As he continues to try to hide his extreme anti-choice views, Virginians won’t be fooled – they know the minute Republicans have the chance, they will try to ban abortion nationwide and limit access to birth control and IVF. Virginians deserve a representative like Eugene Vindman who has made it clear since day one that he will be a champion for reproductive freedom.”

From the Vindman campaign:

Derrick Anderson said Government, Not Women, Should Have the Right to Choose

Dale City, VA – Last night, at a Forum hosted by the Coalition for Action, Derrick Anderson refused to say whether he would protect abortion rights and support a women’s right to choose.

Moderator: “Do you support a woman’s right to choose, yes or no?”

Anderson: “I support the states to be able to make those decisions that best fits those states”

Moderator: “Do you support a woman’s right to choose?”

Anderson: “Look I’ve answered the question twice now”

“Derrick Anderson Cannot Answer Basic Questions on Women’s Freedom Posed, Twice.”

The contrast is clear: While Derrick Anderson is dodging questions about abortion, Eugene Vindman will fight to restore Roe as the law of the land. He knows that this is about a woman’s fundamental rights and freedom. Eugene does not want to see his teenage daughter grow up in a country where she has less rights than her mother and grandmother. That’s not what Eugene put on the line during his 25 years career serving in our armed forces.

Colonel (fmr.) Eugene Vindman, U.S. Army (ret.), was born in Soviet Ukraine. His family arrived as refugees with less than $800 in their pockets and worked hard to achieve the American dream. Vindman joined the U.S. Army after college, serving around the world including a combat tour in Iraq. In 2019, while serving on the White House National Security Council as the senior ethics attorney, he blew the whistle on the infamous phone call in which President Trump attempted to extort Ukraine unless it investigated Joe Biden. Trump’s vengeance cost him his career. Now, Colonel Vindman is running to represent Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, to preserve democracy and advocate for Virginia voters.
