From the DCCC, a new poll has “purple” VA02 a dead heat between Democrat Missy Cotter Smasal and Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA02). This poll follows yesterday’s Wason Center poll, which gave Kiggans a 1-point edge. Also, in this poll, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by 4 points, which compares to Joe Biden’s narrow (2-point) 2020 win in VA02 (when Biden won Virginia overall by 10 points). So…good news!

NEW POLL: DCCC VA-02 Polling Shows Dead Heat Between Missy Cotter Smasal and Jen Kiggans

A new DCCC Analytics poll shows Democrat Missy Cotter Smasal tied with Republican Jen Kiggans 47%-47%. This is one day after a Wason Center poll also showed a statistical tie in VA-02.

Both the Wason Center poll and the DCCC poll emphasize Missy Cotter Smasal’s lead on abortion rights and with Black voters – a critical voting block in the district.

Democrats have been aggressively campaigning on Kiggans’ long anti-abortion record, voting 13 times against abortion rights, including a vote to restrict abortion access to members of the military.

The DCCC poll found that 75% of self-identified Black voters said there is no chance they would consider voting for Kiggans.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“Coastal Virginians are fed up with Jen Kiggans’ failure to stand up for their values and freedoms in Congress. Missy Cotter Smasal has the momentum and support to flip this seat and finally give Virginians the representation they deserve.”

In 2022, DCCC Analytics Polls were proven to be more accurate compared to public polling throughout the cycle. DCCC Analytics polls predicted the ultimate winner in 92% of polls in the final 60 days before Election Day.
