Cao’s Closing Argument: Attacking Federal Workers As “Communists,” Admitting He Won’t Be A Senator For All Virginians
Richmond, VA – Yesterday to NBC4’s Julie Carey, Hung Cao unveiled his closing argument: attacking federal workers as “communists” and admitting he won’t be a U.S. Senator for all Virginians.
According to NBC4, Cao took aim “at the FBI leadership and says he’d support clearing out senior executives and all GS15s in the D.C. area, even if those jobs belong to Virginians.” He said, “They’re not going to vote for me because they’re, they are the leftists, you know, communists that have been destroying this country.”
This certainly isn’t the first time Hung Cao has attacked federal workers. The Washington Post reported that Cao has also attacked the Justice Department, saying, “The country has lost faith in our Justice Department, and the only way to [restore] it is to really cut off the heads. … Really, really chop off the head of that Justice Department that’s doing really nefarious things.” And Cao pledged to release insurrectionists from prison who attacked the capitol on January 6. He’s also supported a plan authored by Florida Senator Rick Scott that would drastically cut the federal workforce, badly damaging the Virginia economy.
On the other hand, Senator Kaine has worked to protect Virginia jobs from partisan attacks, including fighting to protect Schedule F and working to keep the FBI headquarters in Virginia. He also passed bipartisan legislation to ensure that more families of fallen public safety officers access line-of-duty benefits — including the families of Virginia officers Jeffrey Smith and Howard Liebengood, who defended the Capitol during the January 6th insurrection. And he respects Virginians of all parties, which is why he is proud to be endorsed by former GOP Congressman Denver Riggleman.
“Tim Kaine is U.S. Senator for all Virginians, no matter where they live or whether they are a Democrat, Republican, or Independent,” said Michael Beyer, Communications Director for Kaine for Virginia. “Hung Cao is closing the campaign as he started it — by insulting Virginians. Cao called a rural community ‘podunk,’ ridiculed NATO employees as ‘lazy’ and now attacks federal workers as ‘communists,’ even supporting a radical plan to fire them or relocate them outside Virginia. Virginians deserve a Senator who delivers results, not one who spews insults.”
