Now, obviously, everybody doesn’t need to know how many ships China expects to field by 2030 (that would be 435), or what the Suwalki Gap (” Named after the Polish town of Suwałki, this choke point has become of great strategic and military importance since Poland and the Baltic states joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization”) or Kaliningrad (“the westernmost federal subject of the Russian Federation. It is a semi-exclave on the Baltic Sea within the Baltic region of Prussia, surrounded by Poland to the south and Lithuania to the north and east.”). But the US Secretary of Defense *absolutely should know these things*, as they’re extremely important, not just trivia. But of course “Whiskey Pete” Hegseth does NOT know these things, as evidenced by the exchange, below, between Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-VA07) and Hegseth. Great job by Vindman exposing Hegseth’s lack of study, preparation, taking the job seriously, etc. – and god help us all, because we’ve got top leaders in this country who are incompetent, clueless, etc.

Vindman is a retired Army active duty lieutenant colonel.
Vindman was on the promotion list to be promoted to colonel — the next highest rank to general officer. After his testimony to the Jan 6 committee, Trump removed him from the promotion list and Vindman retired from the Army. (Of all officers entering the Army, only about 10% make colonel.)
Vindman was an Army Foreign Area Officer (FAO) — extensive education and assignments dealing with Russia, Eastern Europe and national security affairs.
Hogsbreath is a former National Guard major whose performance record was so poor he was not recommended for promotion above that rank and was dumped by the Guard.
The difference in qualifications between these two illustrates the ignorance and general all-around lack of qualifications of Trump appointees.
Also, Vindman’s IQ (140?) is about 2x that of Hegseth (70?)…LOL
