I missed this earlier in the week, but good to see Sen. Mark Warner – who, by the way, for years used to get “A” ratings from the NRA (and even “actively courted the…NRA“), so isn’t some sort of kneejerk “anti-gun libera” or whatever – showing some FIRE on this:
“I’m sure you’ve all heard about one more of these tragedies, that took place in Minneapolis…The Mayor said it best, ‘this is not a time for thoughts and prayer’, these kids were PRAYING! The BULLSHIT we get of like, ‘let’s lower our flags’? How much more of this before we recognize that sensible gun restrictions have to be out there? Don’t give me the kind of normal CRAP of excuses! These were kids in a church praying – at a Catholic school! Is this really who we are, America?”
The fact is, when Republican politicians talk, after yet another mass shooting in America, about anything BUT the guns – e.g., they’ll claim they support increased mental health funding (which they also vote against, over and over again), offer their “thoughts and prayers” (which are perfectly fine, of course, but not SUFFICIENT – we ALSO need action to rein in gun violence, as Sen. Warner correctly points out!) – you know they’re completely full of “crap” and making “excuses,” to use two words Sen. Warner said in the video. Of course, Republicans will attack any Democrat, including Sen. Warner (who they’re already attacking over this video) who dares to call out their hypocrisy, 100% loyalty to the gun lobby, and lack of concern for the victims of gun violence. This should, of coruse, make clear where Republicans are coming from, and serve as motivation for all of us to turn out in droves at the polls to vote BLUE up and down the ballot!
