THE KIGGANS TWO-STEP: Jen Kiggans Promises Virginians One Thing, Only to Fold and Vote Against Them

The vulnerable Republican congresswoman continues to promise her constituents one thing in public, only to turn around and vote the other way in Washington.

EXAMPLE #1: Kiggans lied when she promised to protect Medicaid. 

• Kiggans spent weeks touting her alleged concerns about Republicans’ plan to gut Medicaid and put rural hospitals at risk.
• But Kiggans “folded” and cast a decisive vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history.
• Kiggans’ vote is the reason why three health clinics in Virginia have already been forced to close their doors.

EXAMPLE #2: Kiggans lied when she promised to protect clean energy tax credits. 

• Kiggans claimed to be a proponent of clean energy and expressed public concerns about rolling back energy tax credits.
• But once again, Kiggans “flip-flopped” and voted to take a “sledgehammer” to clean energy tax credits instead.
• Now, Virginia is losing millions of dollars in investment and electricity bills are rising because of Kiggans’ vote.

EXAMPLE #3: Kiggans is lying about extending ACA tax credits. 

• Kiggans is trying to gain credit for an effort to extend health care tax credits, but has admitted publicly that she won’t put up a fight with her own party if she fails to advance her proposed legislation in government funding negotiations.
• Kiggans has also openly admitted that she opposes extending the ACA tax credits beyond just one year, telling Punchbowl News: “We don’t need these.”
• Now, House GOP leaders are moving forward with a funding plan that will not extend the credits – because they know they have Kiggans’ vote. Because of her inaction, Virginians’ health care costs will rise.
