Virginians are starting to see their health insurance costs soar for 2026 on the insurance marketplace.
But instead of doing anything to actually help Virginians, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans is… you guessed it… signing onto a letter. How brave!
You might be wondering: where have I seen this move before? That would be for good reason. Let’s recall:
- Kiggans signed onto a letter expressing concerns about steep cuts to Medicaid. Then what did she do? She voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, which have already caused health clinics across the Commonwealth to shutter.
- Kiggans signed onto a letter expressing concerns about rolling back clean energy tax credits. Then what did she do? She flip-flopped and voted to take a sledgehammer to those tax credits, and now millions in investment have been stripped from Virginia.
Now, Kiggans is back to playing her same tired political games – this time signing a phony letter when in reality she chose to skip town instead of negotiating to prevent skyrocketing premiums. Kiggans has also admitted she opposes extending ACA tax credits beyond just one year, saying: “We don’t need these.”
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Congresswoman Jen Kiggans is supposed to fight for Virginians but all she knows how to do is engage in a letter writing campaign. If Kiggans really wanted to prevent Virginians from skyrocketing health care costs, she could simply join Democrats in voting for their plan that would both extend the tax credits and reopen the government. But she won’t, and it’s her constituents who will pay the price. That’s not leadership – that’s lip service.” |
