“I Don’t Want To Hear About The Affordability”
November 7, 2025 (Washington, D.C.) – Last night, amid a dishonest rant misleading his audience about the cost of a shrunken promotional Thanksgiving meal basket at Wal-Mart, President Trump angrily complained: “I don’t want to hear about the affordability.”
The morning after Trump’s diatribe, new economic data showed that consumer sentiment in the United States has fallen to one of the lowest levels ever recorded. The drop in consumer sentiment has tracked with persistent inflation and rising prices, driven in part by Trump’s tariffs and Republican-passed legislation. High costs and the weakening economy were also top of mind for voters in this week’s elections, which led to resounding defeats for Trump’s party.
As Americans’ concern about the state of the economy has grown, Trump’s has shown no interest in addressing it. He is too busy traveling the world, holding a lavish Great Gatsby party with wealthy friends at Mar-A-Lago as SNAP funding lapsed, and getting a fancy ballroom and bathroom at the White House to pay attention to the needs of American families. Trump is completely out of touch with working families, and shows no interest in addressing skyrocketing health care costs, or in ending the longest shutdown in U.S. history.

“The American people are struggling with higher prices, but Donald Trump doesn’t even want to hear about it. He could not care less. As his tariffs and Big Ugly Bill drive our prices higher, Trump is unconcerned with helping average people, in fact he is intentionally making life harder for millions of Americans by going to court to deny SNAP benefits to hungry families. In both actions and words Trump is proving that he only cares about himself and his rich friends.”
