On Wednesday afternoon, the day before Thanksgiving, the Virginia State Corporation Commission failed Virginians by granting Dominion Energy permission to build a 1000 MW gas plant in Chesterfield County in a low income, community of color.
Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, the SCC regurgitated Dominion’s fear mongering mantra that without this gas plant (and soon to be seven more around the Commonwealth), we’ll be shivering in the dark and cold or suffering the steamy heat of a summer without electricity.
We can expect the same fear mongering by an army of Dominion lobbyists this 2026 General Assembly Session determined to weaken the Virginia Clean Economy Act, specifically, the “moratorium” on new gas plants and the phase out of all fossil generation by 2045.
The Virginia environmental community is gearing up for this David vs. Goliath battle against Dominion Energy and Data Center Tech Bros (i.e. the richest corporations in the world). To win, we’ll need every tool in our organizers’ toolbox. One of those tools that I am particularly fond of is humor, especially satire grounded in facts–check out the links. So here goes…
How Dominion Energy’s President and CEO, Bob Blue, Stole Christmas
with apologies to Dr. Seuss and The Grinch
You’re a mean one, Mr. Blue, raising Dominion electric bills and stealing White Christmases, too!
You’re a polluter, Mr. Blue, eight new methane power plants turning our air into a toxic stew.
You’re a climate criminal, Mr. Blue, blocking solar on kids schools, fatten corporate profits, too.
You’re a cruel one, Mr. Blue, extreme weather from those methane plants killing people, too.
You’re a corrupt one, Mr. Blue, to gut the Clean Economy Act with an army of Dominion lobbyists and campaign cash to boot.
You’ve been a bad boy, Mr. Blue, a lump of coal your Christmas gift you’ll burn it as you do.
You’re gluttonous, Mr. Blue, green with greed, you’re a polluter through and through.
