Gretchen Bulova Wins HD11 69%-31%, Margaret Angela Franklin Wins HD23 77%-23%; Elizabeth Bennett-Parker Wins SD39 Dem Firehouse Primary 71%-17%

UPDATE 7:21 pm – Per the VA Dept. of Elections, Gretchen Bulova leads Adam Wise (R)  68.6%-30.9% in HD11; Margaret Angela Franklin leads Verndell Robinson (R) 77.3%-22.5%.  Obviously, the two Democrats are going to win, the only question is the margins. Congratulations!

UPDATE 7:15 pm – Per the VA Dept. of Elections, Gretchen Bulova leads Adam Wise (R)  68.8%-30.8% in HD11; Margaret Angela Franklin leads Verndell Robinson (R) 78.4%-21.4%. (We’ll see how the margins end up; for comparison, in 2024, HD11 went by 36 points for Kamala Harris and HD23 went by 35 points for Harris)

Busy times in Virginia politics for sure!

  • There will be two special elections for House of Delegates today (January 13): for the safe-blue HD11 seat previously held by Del. David Bulova, who is heading into the Spanberger administration as Secretary of Natural Resources; and for the also-safe-blue HD23 seat previously held by Del. Candi Mundon King, who is heading into the Spanberger administration as Secretary of the Commonwealth. HD11 Democratic nominee Gretchen Bulova (who won the nomination on 12/16/25) is facing Republican Adam Wise, while HD23 Democratic nominee Margaret Angela Franklin (who also won the nomination on 12/16/25) is facing Republican Vern Robinson.
