WASHINGTON — In recognition of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) 16th anniversary this week, Protect Our Care has launched new ads holding Republicans, including Representative Jen Kiggans (VA-02) and Representative Rob Wittman (VA-01), accountable for making health care more expensive and ripping away coverage from millions of Americans, all to fund tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations. Instead of lowering costs, Republicans have ripped away the tax credits nearly 22 million Americans rely on to afford coverage, while pushing junk insurance plans that leave families stuck with massive bills and fail to cover pre-existing conditions.

These ads are part of Protect Our Care’s nationwide, seven-figure campaign, “Technical Foul: The GOP’s Health Care Madness,” to hold Republicans accountable for their devastating cuts to health care. Throughout the month of March, Protect Our Care will spotlight real stories of people impacted by GOP cuts, including families likely to lose access to Medicaid, people experiencing premium hikes and higher prescription drug costs, and communities impacted by hospital closures.

“Republicans like Jen Kiggans and Rob Wittman are taking a sledgehammer to American health care so that they can hand out tax breaks to billionaires,” said Protect Our Care Virginia State Director Katie Baker. “Families across the country are already struggling to keep up with rising costs, and Republicans made it even harder by ripping away the help people relied on to afford their health care. Now, millions of Americans are paying more, losing coverage, or being pushed into worse plans that won’t cover their prescriptions, doctors, or pre-existing conditions. Hardworking families will suffer because Republicans like Kiggans and Wittman chose wealthy donors and corporate interests over the health and financial security of the American people.”

The ads launched in the following districts on the 16th Anniversary of the ACA on Monday, March 23rd: Jen Kiggans (R-VA-02), Rob Witman (R-VA-01), Eli Crane (R-AZ-02), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ-06), David Valadao (R-CA-22), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA-01), Zach Nunn (R-IA-03), Bill Huizenga (R-MI-04), Tom Barrett (R-MI-07), Mike Lawler (R-NY-17), Ryan Mackenzie (R-PA-07), Rob Bresnahan (R-PA-08), Scott Perry (R-PA-10), and Derrick Van Orden (R-WI-03).
