Lt. Governor Ghazala Hashmi: Teachers Cannot Be Replaced by AI Robots

RICHMOND, VA — Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi, a lifelong educator, released a video today in response to First Lady Melania Trump’s suggestion that AI robots should replace educators in the classroom, with the direct implication that AI robots are better teachers for our children.

“Parents and educators know AI robots are not substitutes for teachers. Robots cannot respond to a child’s confusion, boredom, or curiosity.

“Teachers cannot be replaced by AI robots. Children need empathy, encouragement, and connections with caring adults. Students learn best when they feel seen and supported, and AI robots cannot replace that.

“In Virginia, we value our teachers and we invest in our children.”
