Kaiser Family Foundation: Jen Kiggans, House GOP Denials of Slashing Veterans’ Benefits “Mostly False”

In case you missed it: Jen Kiggans has repeatedly and consistently misled Virginians about the painful impacts her vote for an extreme spending proposal would have on Virginia’s veterans – and a new report from the Kaiser Family Foundation and PolitiFact confirms her mistruths.

[T]he VA represents one of the largest pieces of the pie in terms of discretionary spending, and, in the House-passed Limit, Save, Grow Act, no language was included to specifically protect it.

The House GOP plan does include a specific budget rescission for unspent covid relief funds. That translates to $2 billion coming from the VA.

House Republicans […] have said repeatedly they intend to protect this key constituency. But so far, such protections are not evident on paper.

“Case closed: Jen Kiggans has been caught lying to Virginians about her vote for cruel cuts that would hurt the brave men and women who served our nation,” said DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre. “Kiggans used our nation’s veterans as political leverage when she cast her vote for the ‘Default on America Act’ – and she will be held accountable for her fibs and deception from now until Election Day.”
