Good stuff from the Biden/Harris campaign:

Team Biden-Harris Raises Over $72 Million in Q2, Reports Historic $77 Million in Cash on Hand

Fundraising dramatically outpaces all reported GOP hauls, Team Biden-Harris announced most cash on hand in history for the party’s nominee compared to previous cycles

Today, Team Biden-Harris announced that it raised over $72 million from April through the end of the second quarter of 2023, demonstrating a sign of strong, early support and enthusiasm for the President’s reelection campaign. The team is also reporting today that it has $77 million in cash on hand, which represents the highest total amassed by a Democrat at any comparable point in history.

President Biden and Vice President Harris have seen an outpouring of support in the 67 days since they launched their reelection campaign. The Biden-Harris team dramatically outraised the announced totals from every GOP candidate running for president, including Donald Trump by more than 2:1 and Ron DeSantis by more than 3:1.

Earlier this morning, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez shared the team’s fundraising numbers directly with grassroots supporters in an email and text.

“We’ve seen incredible enthusiasm for President Biden and Vice President Harris’ agenda — including their commitment to restoring democracy, fighting for more freedoms and growing the economy by growing the middle class. While Republicans are burning through resources in a divisive primary focused on who can take the most extreme MAGA positions, we are significantly outraising every single one of them – because our team’s strength is our grassroots supporters,” said Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Manager. “Americans know the stakes in this election — and our broad, diverse coalition powered by grassroots donors is going to send Joe Biden and Kamala Harris back to the White House to finish the job.”

“While Biden-Harris 2024 and the DNC continue to build out a smart fundraising infrastructure that gives us the flexibility to deploy resources strategically at the most important moments, the leading GOP contenders are significantly under our fundraising pace, with less cash on hand, and are bleeding costs to raise the money they are reporting,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “That is the cost of running on an extreme and unpopular agenda, and will leave whomever their nominee is deeply unprepared against our operation.”

Today’s strong numbers from the campaign, DNC, and its joint fundraising committees complement additional metrics the campaign is looking at to measure its success. The campaign has been focused on early grassroots action, expanding its fundraiser network, running an efficient campaign that minimizes hard costs, and taking advantage of the infrastructure that comes with the campaign’s historic partnership with the Democratic National Committee. By all metrics, Team Biden-Harris marked significant success this quarter:

  • More than 394,000 donors made over 670,000 contributions across all entities.
  • 97% of all donations were under $200 and the average grassroots contribution was $39.
  • Donors hailed from all 50 states and walks of life, with teachers, nurses, and retirees making up some of the most common occupations of donors.
  • 30% percent of our donor universe are new donors since our 2020 campaign.
  • Biden-Harris 2024’s email list is the largest for a Democratic presidential candidate, including close to 25 million email subscribers.
  • The campaign has seized on effective online fundraising tools and moments to drive grassroots action: The “Meet the Bidens” fundraising contest was the most successful contest since 2020, raising nearly $2M.
  • The campaign hosted 38 fundraisers since launch through the end of Q2.

For the first time ever for a presidential candidate, the campaign secured a joint fundraising agreement (JFA) with all 50 state parties and the District of Columbia. That means the campaign and the Democratic Party can raise more money, and raise it faster.

President Biden’s 2020 campaign raised over $1 billion, the most money of any presidential campaign in history, which included $700 million online driven by small dollar donations – also the most in history. With President Biden at the top of the ticket, ActBlue saw over 133 million separate donations in the 2020 cycle with 71% being first-time donors.
