2Q23 Virginia Campaign Finance Numbers Due by 11:59 pm Today; Will Start Coming in at 6 pm

The last comprehensive data we received regarding Virginia candidates’ campaign finances took us from April 1 through June 8, which was twelve days before the primaries on June 20. Since then, VPAP has reported large contributions, but we haven’t gotten full reports on all the candidates’ fundraising and expenditures for the period June 9-June 30. Fortunately, as of 6 pm today, those numbers  (“for all candidates and committees registered with the Virginia Department of Elections”) will finally start coming available on VPAP.  Of course, now that the primaries are over, the focus now has shifted to how Democratic and Republican nominees’ financial situations look as they head into the general elections.  With that in mind, I’m particularly interested in candidates’ fundraising for key, competitive races (and a few that are on the edge of being competitive) that will determine control of the State Senate and House of Delegates, including the following:

• The VA Senate Democratic Caucus raised $1,517,361 in 2Q23, ending with $1,648,971 cash-on-hand. The Virginia Senate Republican Caucus raised $670,287 in 2Q23, ending with $1,600,626 cash-on-hand.

• Jason Miyares’ “A Safer Virginia” PAC raised $1,622,880 in 2Q23, ending with $1,390,408 cash-on-hand.
• “Winsome PAC” raised $576,665 in 2Q23, ending with $626,435.
• Former Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn’s “Energized for Change PAC” raised $129,738 in 2Q23, ending with $735,213.
• Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney’s “Better Way PAC” raised $202,067 in 2Q23, ending with $286,995.
• Speaker Todd Gilbert’s “Republican Commonwealth Leadership PAC” raised $762,652 in 2Q23, ending with $1,872,351.
