Virginia Leaders Get the Word Out about Early Voting, Stakes of the Election, & Dangers of Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda

This week, in a new video series released ahead of the beginning of early voting, Senator Tim Kaine, Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan, VA-01 Democratic nominee Leslie Mehta, Virginia Legislative Black Caucus Chair state Sen. Lamont Bagby, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, state Sen. Aaron Rouse, and Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones spoke directly to voters reminding them to get out and vote early starting September 20th. The elected leaders emphasized the ease, convenience, and importance of early voting, and reminded Virginians of different ways to vote early.

The stakes of the election in Virginia and across the country could not be higher, between Vice President Harris, who offers the country a New Way Forward that will build up the middle-class, and Donald Trump, who is running on a dangerous Project 2025 agenda that would raise costs for American families. Trump’s plan to ban abortion nationwide, threaten access to IVF and birth control, and raise taxes by $3,900 per year on the middle class is deeply unpopular in Virginia.

In-person early voting in Virginia begins tomorrow, Friday, September 20th. Virginians can register to vote online now through October 15th and request a vote by mail ballot through October 25th. Virginians can visit IWillVote.com for key voter information.

Senator Tim Kaine: “Believe it or not, early voting is just around the corner. No matter how you choose to vote early, it’s crucial that you make a plan to vote. This election is too important to stay on the sidelines.”

Congressman Bobby Scott: “There’s great energy here, but our challenge is to channel that energy into action to make sure [Kamala Harris and Tim Walz] get elected… Election Day is on November 5th but early voting starts in the Commonwealth on Friday, September 20th, and it’s easier than ever to make your voice heard… For more information about how to vote early, request an absentee ballot, or find a polling place near you, visit IWillVote.com/VA.”

Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan: “I am here to ask you to vote early starting on September 20th. You can vote anytime, for any reason, between September 20th and November 2nd. Vote early!”

Virginia State Senator Lamont Bagby, Chair of the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus: “Get out and make your voice heard in this historical election. Never in the Commonwealth has voting been so easy. We did the work to make voting easy. Get to the polls. It’s safe. It’s secure. We need your support in this historical election.”

Virginia State Senator Aaron Rouse: “Make a plan to vote. Early voting starts soon. You can request a mail-in ballot at iwillvote.com/VA. And you have the opportunity to vote Monday through Friday, as well as two Saturdays to early vote. Let’s get this done.”

Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney: “Now you can vote in a couple places inside your jurisdiction that will be dictated by your locality. So go to iwillvote.com/VA to check it out. We want you to early vote. We want you to mail-in vote. All that can be found at iwillvote.com/VA. Once again, the election is upon us. Let’s get out there and vote for the Harris ticket. Let’s go.”

Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones: “Early voting is easy and convenient in Virginia. In fact, we have over 45 days of early voting starting Friday, September 20th. Remember, vote and make your voice heard.”

VA-01 Democratic Nominee Leslie Mehta: “Early voting starts soon, September 20th. We’ve got to get out in record numbers and do this. So make your plan now.”
