New Ad Spotlights Trump’s Relationship With Extremist Mark Robinson, Tying Trump to Scandal-Plagued NC Candidate

Meanwhile, "crickets' from Glenn Youngkin, who actually raised money for Robinson!

Check out the new ad by the Harris-Walz campaign spotlighting “Trump’s relationship with extremist Mark Robinson.” On a related note, it’s fascinating how Glenn Youngkin – who literally raised money for Robinson! – hasn’t uttered a peep about Robinson following the bombshell CNN report on Robinson calling himself a “Black Nazi,” making “dozens of disturbing comments on porn forum,” etc.  Of course, this is typical for Youngkin, who engages in selective outrage (actually faux “outrage”) any time a Democrat does ANYTHING, but goes silent about Trump, Robinson and other Republicans doing horrible things (e.g., Trump’s virulent racism towards Haitians, his nasty anti-Semitism). Gee, wonder why that is (hint: it’s because Youngkin has zero moral compass and only cares about advancing his own political prospects, regardless of how much damage he does in the process).

New Ad Spotlights Trump’s Relationship With Extremist Mark Robinson, Tying Trump to Scandal-Plagued NC Candidate

Ad Comes After Bombshell CNN Report on Robinson and Ahead of Harris’ Speech on Reproductive Freedom in Georgia, Where Two Women Died Under State’s Extreme Abortion Ban

Trump on Robinson: “I Think You Are Better Than Martin Luther King… He’s Outstanding.”

This Is the First Harris Campaign Ad Tying Trump to a Down-Ballot Race

Today, in the wake of bombshell new CNN reporting that the state’s Republican gubernatorial nominee Mark Robinson called himself a “Nazi,” the Harris campaign is launching a new TV ad in North Carolina spotlighting Donald Trump’s close ties to Robinson. The ad highlights Trump’s repeated praise of Robinson and Robinson’s extreme anti-abortion views.

This new ad comes as Vice President Harris heads to neighboring Georgia to speak about the dangerous consequences of Trump’s abortion bans, including the deaths of Georgia women under the state’s ban.

Trump endorsed Robinson for governor, praised him as “better than Martin Luther King,” and repeatedly campaigned with him, despite Robinson’s well-known record of extremism. The ad, “Both Wrong,” intersperses Trump’s high praise for Robinson with Robinson’s own extreme comments on abortion, including his support for a total abortion ban without exceptions to protect the life of the woman:

  • “If I had all the power right now, let’s say I was the governor and had a willing legislature, we could pass a bill and say you can’t have an abortion in North Carolina for any reason.”
  • “For me, there is no compromise on abortion. It makes no difference to me why or how that child ended up in that womb.”
  • “Abortion in this country is not about protecting the lives of mothers. It’s about killing a child, because you weren’t responsible enough to keep your skirt down.”
  • “Do I want to continue to lower it? You better know it. I would love to get down to six weeks. And I’d like to get down to zero. I would like to push it back as far as we could and eliminate as many abortions as we can.”

North Carolina women are already living under an abortion ban thanks to Donald Trump overturning Roe v. Wade. If Donald Trump and Mark Robinson win, they’ll implement a Project 2025 agenda that would go even further, banning abortion nationwide, attacking access to contraception and IVF, and allowing states to monitor women’s pregnancies.

“The split screen today for voters in this election could not be more stark: In Georgia, Vice President Harris will make a forceful and powerful case for reproductive freedom in the light of two women’s preventable deaths under the state’s Trump abortion ban. In North Carolina, Donald Trump proudly embraces Mark Robinson and his extremist views on what women can and cannot do with our bodies. Together they would make the harsh reality women face in states like Georgia and North Carolina a nationwide nightmare. Trump can’t run away from the truth: He stands shoulder to shoulder with Robinson and for the extreme abortion bans that are putting women’s lives at risk across the country — and if they have the chance, they will go further and ban abortion across the country. From now until Election Day, we will make sure voters don’t forget that,” said Harris-Walz Campaign Chair Jen O’Malley Dillon.

“Both Wrong” is part of Team Harris-Walz’s historic $370 million in digital and television advertising reservations between Labor Day and Election Day and will air on television across North Carolina markets on a variety of programs including local news, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune.

The ad comes at a pivotal moment when the stakes of this election for reproductive freedom are on full display. This week, Republicans in the Senate once again voted down federal protections for IVF, which has been attacked in Alabama and across the country due to Trump overturning Roe v. Wade. Also this week, ProPublica published devastating reports on the preventable deaths of two women under Georgia’s abortion ban. The family of one of those women — Amber Nicole Thurman — spoke along with reproductive rights advocate Hadley Duvall last night at Vice President Harris’ event with Oprah in Michigan. Later today, the Vice President will be in Georgia to speak about all those dangerous consequences of Trump Abortion Bans.
