| In response to Trump surrogate Michael Flynn answering a question about him leading “a military tribunal” by emphasizing “we gotta win” before “hell will be unleashed,” DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement:
“Donald Trump has already promised he’ll bring Michael Flynn back if he gets another chance at power – and now Flynn is promising that ‘hell will be unleashed’ when asked about leading a military tribunal under a second Trump term. Flynn’s disgraceful comments once again show that our democracy is on the line in this election, and that voters have the power to stop this dangerous assault on our Constitution and prevent the rule of law from becoming the rule of Trump.”
NEW: When asked about him leading a military tribunal, Michael Flynn said that Donald Trump has to win so that “hell will be unleashed.”
Questioner: “Is there any chance that should the election go in a positive result, you would get your rank reinstated and sit at the head of a military tribunal to not only drain the swamp, but imprison the swamp and, on a few occasions, execute the swamp?”
Michael Flynn: “Your sentiment is like a lot of people that I speak to around this country … what your sentiment is about is accountability … I definitely believe we need accountability … These people are already up to no good, so we gotta win first. We win, and then Katy bar the door. Believe me, the gates of hell, my hell will be unleashed.”
Trump has already said he would bring back Michael Flynn if he wins the 2024 election.

Flynn is an extremist who lied to the FBI, tried to undermine the 2020 election results, and is now a “revered figure” in the violent QAnon conspiracy theory movement.
Rolling Stone: “A Trump loyalist, Flynn pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI during the 2016 campaign regarding his contact with Russia’s ambassador to the U.S. and his activity as a lobbyist and consultant to Turkey’s government. Flynn ultimately resigned in disgrace from the Trump White House in 2017 before going on to become a revered figure in the QAnon movement.”
Rolling Stone: “Flynn, who has become a popular figure in QAnon circles, also played a large part in the attempts to subvert democracy and halt the electoral count on Jan. 6. He urged Trump to ‘declare limited martial law’ and ‘temporarily suspend the Constitution’ and spoke at the ‘Stop the Steal’ rally ahead of the attack on the Capitol.”
The Hill: “He’s been surrounded by other controversies related to the 2020 transfer of power and prior dealings with foreign entities, and has been tied to QAnon and backed Trump’s claims of widespread election fraud. He was pardoned by Trump as the former president left office.” |
