Sunday Scaries: Donald Trump’s MAGA Mouthpieces Carry His Extreme and Dangerous Project 2025 Closing Message

In response to Donald Trump’s MAGA minions carrying water for his dangerous closing message on the Sunday shows, DNC Spokesperson Aida Ross released the following statement:

“In the final days of the Trump-Vance campaign, Donald Trump’s MAGA mouthpieces are losing their last shred of dignity on national television, scrambling to prop up his closing message of violence, election conspiracies, and threats against our democracy. Trump’s lackeys may be willing to put our democracy on the line to serve Trump’s selfish ego, but voters know the dangers of a second Trump term – and will make sure he gets nowhere near the White House on November 5.”

Tim Scott repeatedly REFUSED to answer for Donald Trump’s anti-democratic rhetoric, election conspiracies, and attempts to lay the groundwork to deny the results of the 2024 election.

Dana Bash, CNN: “What I’m asking about is what if he doesn’t win. And the fact of the matter is that Trump is already spreading false claims about cheating in PA. He’s repeatedly predicted a massive victory even though polls show that the race is very close. He’s setting the stage for his supporters not to believe the results if he loses. Do you want him to stop doing that?”

Tim Scott: “I would never tell any candidate on the ballot to talk about what happens if they lose.”

[…]

Bash: “But saying false things about fraud is not —”

Scott: “Dana, you and I just disagree on this one, totally disagree on this one.”

Bash: “You think it’s okay to spread false rumors about fraud and undermine the integrity of the election, regardless of what happens?”

Scott: *Refuses to answer the question.*

[…]

Bash: “I can’t let go of the fact that you are saying it’s the media spreading claims [about election fraud]. It is not true. It is Donald Trump who is saying things […] We saw what happened on January 6 as a result of that and many other things. You were there at the Capitol. Are you saying right now, you want to lead this conversation, and say you’re okay with his rhetoric?”

Scott: *Dodges again*

[…]

Bash: “So does that mean that you are confident that if Donald Trump loses — I know you think he’s going to win but let’s just play it out. If he loses, that he will concede?”

Scott: “I’m confident that he’s going to win without any question. And yes, I do believe that we will have a fair election. We will honor the results and we will celebrate the 47th president being Donald Trump.”

Marco Rubio attempted to cover for Trump’s horrifying suggestion that former Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney should have “nine barrels shooting at her” and guns “trained on her face.”

Margaret Brennan, CBS: “That soundbite a moment ago from Donald Trump talking about training guns on the face of Liz Cheney. The Trump campaign says that was about foreign policy [..] Isn’t it possible to make the case without using rhetoric like that?”

Marco Rubio: “But Donald Trump doesn’t talk like someone who has been in Washington for thirty years —”

Brennan: “Training guns in her face?”

Rubio: “No, that’s not what he said […] everybody knows exactly what he was saying —”

Brennan: “We played the soundbite.”

[…]

Rubio: “That he uses language that maybe isn’t what we typically hear from someone who works at a think tank, fine.”

Rubio tried (and failed) to spin the fact that a speaker called Puerto Rico an “island of garbage” at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.

Margaret Brennan, CBS: “You’ve been focused on outreach to Hispanic voters for the Trump campaign. Are you concerned that this unforced error hurt outreach?

Rubio: “Well, there was no unforced error. A comedian made a joke and it was tasteless, but it wasn’t Trump that said it. […]”

Brennan: “At a Trump rally, hired by the campaign.”

Kristen Welker, NBC: “The campaign [is] continuing to deal with the fall out from the offensive comments about Puerto Rico made by a supporter of former President Trump, by that comedian at that rally last weekend. The Puerto Rican community in Pennsylvania factors almost half a million people in that critical state. Some saying they were absolutely furious about the comments, hurt that former President Trump hasn’t apologized. Do you think that this incident could cost former President Trump the state of Pennsylvania, which is critical to winning?”

Doug Burgum: *Dodges.*
