After Del. Candi King Calls Out Youngkin’s “HYPOCRISY”, Abigail Spanberger, Glenn Youngkin and Winsome Earle-Sears All Condemn “Vile, Racist Slur” Hurled at Her

Meanwhile, the head of the Republican Party - Donald Trump - has engaged in racist rhetoric and policies for years...

Now this should be something everyone can agree on – vile racism and hateful rhetoric have “no place in Virginia or our country – not in our communities, not in our politics, and not in our public discourse,” as Abigail Spanberger says. In this case, what happened a couple days ago was that Del. Candi King tweeted, 100% accurately:

The HYPOCRISY of @GlennYoungkin giving a lesson on Brown [v Board of Education] a few days after vetoing a bill by @DavidReidVA  to give students CREDIT for learning this very same history.”

So then some anonymous racist responded to Del. King with the “n word” – hateful rhetoric by any standard, and obviously ad hominem, not responding to the MERITS of Del. King’s argument. In response, several leading Virginia politicians weighed in, including 2025 Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Abigail Spanberger, Gov. Glenn Youngkin and 2025 Virginia GOP gubernatorial nominee Winsome Earle-Sears – all condemning the vile racism. So that’s all good, of course.

The broader problem, though, is that the leader of the Republican Party – Donald Trump – has for many years engaged in racist rhetoric (e.g., the heinous “Birther” crap against our first Black president, Barack Obama) and actions/policies, basically none of which have been condemned by the Glenn Youngkins of the world. So, in short, they’re willing to condemn an anonyomous Twitter troll/racist – and good for them for doing so! – but not the leader of their party. Very telling.

Speaker Don Scott:

Don’t be afraid to lead on whether a member of the GA should be called the n word @winwithwinsome  and Say her name! It’s @CandiMundonKing!! She is a brilliant legislator, a wife married to a law enforcement officer and a mother. And your followers love to use their racist language towards us, but guess what we ain’t going nowhere!! After emboldening your followers to attack Black achievement under the guise of anti-DEI and after attacking the teaching of black history instead of talking about the KKK-you should admit that these are your followers and ask them to stop with the racist attacks but you won’t. You were silent when the Governor just vetoed the bill to end the Confederate tax subsidies that continue to promote the ideals of the Confederacy! Spare us. And I know your nasty, hateful followers will come for me too. They get no response as they deserve. Talk to the hand.”
