Video: Sen. Mark Warner Says “I just don’t know what will be the item that will bring this [Iran] conflict to an end”

"Should [Iran] fall into a failed state, that would be devastating to the region."

See below for video and highlights of Sen. Mark Warner’s appearance on Fox “News” Sunday. And yes, I continue to wish for a day when no Democratic leader would even *think* about going on that right-wing-propaganda network, but unfortunately, today is not that day. 🙁

  • “We have had four different answers on what the purpose of this war is…regime change…eliminate the ballistic missiles…the nuclear program that the president claims had been ‘obliterated’…the Iranian Navy…this is a war of choice…there was no imminent threat to the United States [or even] to Israel…There’s been 47 years of this conflict with Iran.”
  • “Gas prices have gone up 47 cents…that combined with the declining job numbers…the stock market crashing…and we don’t know how long Iran will last…My fear is we are running down our munitions that intercept the missiles…And where does this end?”
  • “What happens if those Iranian people go to the streets and are massacred?  I think that will put an obligation on us, but I don’t think Americans want U.S. troops on the ground in Iran.”
  • “We have the world’s best military, but we are always better with allies. And unfortunately, this president has literally insulted virtually all of our allies, put them down…”
  • “I do not think [Trump] is in compliance [with the War Powers Act]” with this “pre-planned war of choice.”
  • “It’s been so haphazard…I just don’t know what will be the item that will bring this conflict to an end…Should [Iran] fall into a failed state, that would be devastating to the region.”

Also, here’s video of Sen. Mark Warner on NewsNation:

  • “If we have to wait for Iran to do ‘unconditional surrender’ and to allow Mr. Trump to choose Iran’s next leader, then I don’t know when this war is going to end.”
  • “Our record of putting troops on the ground in the Middle East over the last 30+ years has not been very good.”
  • “We could see a much wider war…”
  • “Frankly, the one government that is probably getting the most out of this so far is Russia…”
