Video: Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-VA11) Says Todd Blanche’s Last-Minute, Pro-Forma Meeting with Epstein Survivors Is “insulting on its face”

• “Just frustration [from Epstein survivors]. I mean, one, I think it’s insulting that after months of begging for a meeting with first Pam Bondi and now Todd Blanche, the meeting doesn’t happen until a United States senator demands it happen at Blanche’s confirmation hearing. Todd Blanche could have met with these survivors at any point over the time that he has handled the Epstein files. He repeatedly ignored them, refused to have the meeting until, as we just heard, he needed it to get his confirmation. It’s insulting on its face.“
• “I would suggest to Senator Tillis that he meet with those same survivors and hear from them about the meeting they had with Todd Blanche, and then he can determine whether it accomplished what he hoped that meeting would accomplish. I can’t imagine Senator Tillis was hoping there would be a meeting just for the sake of holding a meeting. I think he hoped that in that meeting, Todd Blanche would actually actually listen to and hear the survivors who are calling for transparency.”
• “Todd Blanche has taken on his boss Donald Trump’s habit, which is to restate a falsehood enough times that hopefully people will believe it. He continues to assert falsely that he’s released all the files. He hasn’t. He continues to assert falsely that there are no more files that need to be unredacted. That’s false. He just repeats it over and over again in the hopes that the American people will believe it, but they’re not buying it. It sounds like that’s what he did with these survivors.”
• “…we all Democrats and Republicans on the committee have questions around the NDAs. Was there coercion involved in ny of the NDAs? What were the circumstances that led to them being signed? You know, Leon Black is one who a number of the survivors have flagged as um someone who engaged in the abuse and we want to get to the bottom of that. It was a right decision to subpoena him. I wish that the deposition were taking place sooner, but we’ll be prepared for September.”
