Who Are The Dimmest Bulbs of Virginia?

Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives failed to pass the bizarre “Better Use of Light Bulbs Act.” Believe it or not, the bill would have “repeal[ed] lighting provisions of the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007” (signed into law by…that’s right, Republican President George W. Bush), all because some crazy people think it’s a commie plot or something.

Fortunately, the “BULB” Act failed to gain the required 2/3 vote in the House, under suspension of the rules. Still, 228 “dim bulb” Republicans, and 5 apparently “burned-out bulb” Democrats, voted “aye.” Here’s how the Virginia delegation’s feet came down on the light bulbs (Jewish wedding tradition, inside joke). 🙂

The gist of his blog-level-snarky (but dead-on accurate!) remarks: “This entire situation would be hilarious but for the gravity of the threats our nation faces, from climate change to the debt puzzle, or the opportunities that we will forgo in the Middle East because this House is distracted by a paranoid attack on light bulbs.”
