Sen. Warner spoke about the “attack on our democracy that took place by Russia” and the need to protect our elections/democracy going forward; the Mueller report (“I have not seen it, you have not seen it, but I will not rest until we’ve all seen it!”); the Trump administration’s assault on healthcare generally, and the Affordable Care Act specifically; the need for a “real plan” to fight climate change (“I for one think we need to put a price on carbon”); the fact that “in many ways, modern American capitalism is not working for our people” (“we need to create a 21st-century social contract, that regardless of what kind of work you do, you get some benefits…I believe there needs to be a different economic narrative…an economic system where each and every one of us has got the fair shot”); the need for Virginia Democrats to “work our tails off” in 2019 to win elections at the county level and in Richmond; that we have “great candidates” for 2020, all of whom need to come to Virginia and help those candidates raise money; the need to combat online hate speech and incitement to violence; the situation in Venezuela; fighting anti-LGBT discrimination; etc.
