Urgent action needed:
Before the Primary Election every candidate, with no exception, pledged to save Blake Lane Park and find a different site for a new Oakton/Fairfax School. The Community of #SaveBlakeLanePark and I learned that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will decide TODAY, Tuesday June 25th, on a new bond referendum that bundles several projects for much needed school construction and improvements, to include building the school on Blake Lane since an alternative site has not been mentioned yet.
Would we vote against our own interest? We want to save the park AND the school as well, but public buildings, land proffers or cash proffers from development could be used as an alternative. This decision item is not public, so there is not an opportunity to speak before the Board but we can email and call!
Will you help us contact every representative TODAY and *KINDLY* ask that language be added on the referendum to specify that Blake Lane Park not be used as a construction site?
Help us save thousands of trees, recreational space for all ages, a space for community, naturalists and volunteer activities, a dog park, and a habitat for birds, butterflies, squirrels and many other species.
