OK, sure, this could have been just a slip of the tongue. The problem is, this is just one of a string of comments indicating that Romney and his advisors are living in a Cold War mentality, if not the era itself. Note that Romney himself called Russia (at least he didn’t say “Soviet Union”) as our “number one geopolitical foe.” Seriously? Are we back in the 1950s-1980s now or what?

Even more disturbing, Romney’s advisors are heavily weighted towards the George W. Bush/Dick Cheney/John Bolton model – bomb first, ask questions later (see here for Colin Powell’s demolition of these people as giving him “second thought” and as being “quite far to the right”).

Finally, Romney and his foreign policy team have already made so many mistakes, this list of Romney’s Top 10 foreign policy #FAILs so far only scratches the surface.  Just this week, for instance, Australia’s foreign minister, Bob Carr, said that Romney got his comments exactly backward — in fact, Carr was praising America’s economic strengths, but somehow Romney twisted that into an attack. Unbelievable, but typical of lyin’ Willard.
