See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (7/25), in Virginia we’re at 83,609 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 7,570 hospitalizations and 2,075 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 1,245 (+1.5%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,127 (+1.4%), and the fastest day-to-day increase since June 7. The number of TOTAL test results was 1,107,695 (up 21,455 from 1,086,240 yesterday), which is still below what we need, according to researchers at Harvard (that would be 22,422/day for mitigation, 81,741/day for suppression). As for hospitalizations, they went up 55 (+0.7%), from 7,515 to 7,570, which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 78 (+1.0%). Deaths are reported up 8 (from 2,067 to 2,075), compared to an increase of 13 (from 2,054 to 2,067) the previous day.
