Richmond, VA — Today, DPVA’s “Where Trump Leads, Glenn Follows” press tour continued in Norfolk as Senate President Pro-Tempore Louise Lucas and Senate Democratic Caucus Chair Mamie Locke highlighted Glenn Youngkin’s extreme agenda and touted Democrats’ track record of success ahead of the June 8 Democratic primary.

While Youngkin continues to dodge basic questions about his record, he has made his complete allegiance to Donald Trump and his far-right agenda clear. Youngkin has opposed COVID-19 relief that benefitted millions of Virginians, opposed the expansion of affordable health care in Virginia, and taken hardline stances against reproductive rights.

“Youngkin may not have a voting record, but we know exactly where he stands. He’s against protecting the right to vote, against critical COVID-19 relief, against expanding health care to those most in need, and against expanding civil rights protections to LGBTQ Virginians. In other words, Youngkin is doing exactly what Donald Trump wants him to do — taking far-right positions that would threaten Virginia’s recovery.”

“Youngkin has steadfastly opposed the COVID-19 relief that has been a crucial lifeline for working families and small businesses across the Commonwealth…Youngkin has taken an extremely hard line on health care — railing against Governor Northam’s efforts to protect the Affordable Care Act and aggressively attacking Medicaid expansion.”

Glenn Youngkin’s opposition to Medicaid expansion and the Affordable Care Act means health care is on the ballot in Virginia…This week in Virginia we’re celebrating the three year anniversary of Medicaid expansion. This was a historic step in the fight to protect and expand health care for all Virginians. Thanks to Democratic leadership — and after we spent years working to overcome Republican opposition — we expanded Medicaid and 550,000 Virginians were able to gain health care.”
