Video: Delegate David Toscano on Climate Change, CO2, and Sea Level Changes

The fact that so many Republicans don’t take man-made climate change seriously, or think it’s a hoax or whatever, should automatically disqualify them from public office. I’m not saying there aren’t Democrats who are bought and paid for by the fossil fuel industry as well, but climate science denialism is almost uniquely a feature of the other party – the Republicans. And that’s just pitiful.

There were some facts that Del. Toscano brought out that I didn’t know.  Such as, that 626,000 Virginians live within 6 1/2 feet of sea level.

He referred to a book that I hadn’t heard of, namely

Virginia Climate Fever: How Global Warming Will Transform Our Cities, Shorelines, and Forests Hardcover, published in  October 30, 2014, by Stephen Nash, a journalism professor at the University of Richmond.  I guess it discusses the impact of one foot of sea level rise on Virginia. Hmm, maybe I should buy a copy, read and highlight it, and then send it to my own Delegate.  That’s a thought.

He might have mentioned the methane gas that is being released as the ocean warms.

He says it is going to cost Virginia billions, but could have tried to come up with a more specific estimate.
