Saturday News: Corrupt, Incompetent Trump “risks diplomatic blowup in Asia”; Sarah Palin Rips Trump’s Carrier Deal as “Crony Capitalism”

Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Saturday, December 3. Also see President Obama’s weekly address, which “highlighted the 21st Century Cures Act, a bill in Congress that could help us find a cure for Alzheimer’s, end cancer as we know it, and help those who are seeking treatment for opioid addiction.”

Regarding DNC chair, at this point I’m hoping for Tom Perez. While I would understand if he chooses to run for Maryland governor instead, he seems like a good full-time option who can bring the various factions together.

    • Perez is extremely impressive, would definitely consider supporting him, but is he running?

      • Philip Whitman

No idea, but I hope so. From what I can gather it’s either DNC now or governor in 2018.

  • Quizzical

I’m going to miss President Obama. Trump supporters say terrible things about him, and I just don’t get it.

    • It’s actually easy to understand.

      1) The right-wing echo chamber is a powerful, hermetically-sealed place, where the fever swamp of lies becomes reality, and where Democrats are Satan, Lucifer, Sauron, etc. all rolled into one.

      2) It’s even easier for the right-wing hatemongers to demonize the Dem if they are a minority (in the case of Obama) or a woman (in the case of Hillary Clinton), although of course they’re happy to demonize ANY Democrat – see the Swift Boat attacks on John Kerry, the “Willie Horton” racist crap against Michael Dukakis, the years-long conspiracy-fest against Bill Clinton, etc.etc.

      3) The Dems don’t have the media “juice” or focus to push back on all the lies spewed out by Fox, right-wing hate radio, etc.

Hillary beat Trump among voters who considered the economy the most important issue. It was voters who were cowering in fear about immigration and terrorism that led to Trump’s electoral college victory.
