Danica Roem Sets Record for Most Donations Received by a Virginia House of Delegates Candidate?

Great stuff from Danica Roem, the Democratic nominee against Del. “Sideshow Bob” Marshall (anti-LGBT bigot and far-right “R”) in the 13th House of Delegates district (PW County, Manassas Park City). Let’s keep this going and finally say goodbye to our old pal “Sideshow Bob!”

Check out the attached screenshot I snapped at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 2, 2017.
We were endorsed by Daily Kos last week, they sent out a fundraising email this week and, wow, did the donations poor in: nearly 900 just since Tuesday, just through ActBlue! That doesn’t even include checks, cash and donations through our Facebook plug-in Raise the Money.

Since Trump announced his ban on transgender people serving in the military (left side of the screenshot), we’ve raised more than $21,000 from about 1,300 donations between $1-$500 each plus Chris Abele’s $50,000 donation.

While my colleagues in the media focus on Chris’s one large donation, the canary in the coal mine is the 1,300 other donations in a week. In Joe Biden-speak, that’s a BFD. Most candidates don’t receive that many donations in a single reporting period, let alone one week.

We’ve out-raised Del. Marshall at the hyper-local level (We received 49 donations from Manassas, Manassas Park, Gainesville and Haymarket from June 2-30 while Del. Marshall received 27 total donations from all his donors), countywide, statewide and nationally.

Meanwhile, our campaign has knocked on more than 16,000 doors since June 14, the start of the generale election.

We have the candidate, message, ground game and fundraising to win.

And it’s long past time for us to make it happen.
