The following are Rep. Gerry Connolly’s proposed amendments to the Dirty Air Act (H.R. 910) coming before the House Rules Committee this afternoon. Great stuff and spot on! What’s your favorite?

Connolly (VA) #14: Would change the short title to “Middle Eastern Economic Development and Assistance Act.”

Connolly (VA) #15: Would change the short title to “Protecting Americans from Polar Bears Act.”

Connolly (VA) #16: Would change the short title to “Koch Brothers Appreciation Act.”

Connolly (VA) #17: Would change the short title to “Oil Producing Economy Capitulation Act.”

Connolly (VA) #18: Would change the short title to “Head in the Sand Act.”

Connolly (VA) #19: Would express the sense of Congress that when Congress passed the Clean Air Act in 1970 it gave the EPA Administrator authority to regulate pollutants which would alter “climate” and “weather.”

Connolly (VA), Langevin (RI) #20: Would require that, prior to enactment, the Secretary of Defense must certify that the bill does not pose a threat to national security.

Connolly (VA), Quigley (IL) #23: Would reaffirm the finding that global warming is unequivocal and caused by humans as summarize by the 2007 International Panel on Climate Change report.

P.S. Think Progress has more on this story.

Gerry’s not a freshman anymore, so the gloves come off.

My favorite is the Koch Brothers Appreciation Act.

Sounds like he’s ready to start his own blog.

My favorite is #20, requiring the president to certify this is not a threat to defense. Just imagine if we actually connected the dots between our lust for oil and all the human cannon fodder we send to the Middle East.
