Washington Post Breathlessly Hypes Story It Didn’t Break, Provides No Credit to Outlet that Did

As I've pointed out many times, it's not as if the Washington Kaplan Post ever cared about giving credit/linking to other news outlets for stories the other news outlets scooped them on. But now that they don't even have an Ombudsman anymore, they certainly won't be worrying about this basic tenet of Journalism Ethics 101. Case in point: the Post is breathlessly hyping this story, on the "$1 million bus stop" in Arlington, yet it completely fails to mention that the story was broken on March 18 - a full week ago! - by local, independent online news outlet ArlNow. Go to the Post article and see for yourself; just don't hold your breath as you try to find any mention at all of ArlNow's scoop. It's pathetic, but it's also business as usual at this once fine newspaper, now a thin (literally) shadow of what it used to be.
