Virginia House Democratic Leader Del. David Toscano today sent the following letter to Rep. Tom Garrett (R-VA05), Toscano’s “former colleague in the General Assembly, to encourage him to attend a face-to-face town hall meeting with his constituents.” Del. Toscano adds, “I hope it will be helpful.” Personally, I doubt that Garrett will have the cojones to face his constituents, but I’m glad to see the leadership by Del. Toscano in pressing him to do so. After all, listening to constituents is a fundamental, basic part of the job description of being in the U.S. House of Representatives. If Garrett – or any other member of Congress – can’t handle it, he should step aside for someone who can.
