Video: VA House Minority Whip (D-“National Landing”) Says He’s “Not Inclined to Vote for [Amazon] Bill”

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

UPDATE 6 pm – Video: Del. Lopez explained this afternoon on the House of Delegates floor why he’s going to vote “no” on the Amazon bill…

See below for video of Del. Alfonso Lopez (D-49th), the Virginia Democratic House “Whip” who represents the part of Arlington directly impacted by the Amazon “HQ2” deal, speaking yesterday. According to Del. Lopez, “there are a lot of questions” about the Amazon deal and “I’m not inclined to vote for this [Amazon] bill.” Del. Lopez added that he’s been “reading up a lot on…Amazon’s practices and Amazon’s affiliations…I want to have a conversation on the floor of the House of Delegates about why a race to the bottom doesn’t work…Nobody wants for states and regions and cities to be competing with each other by giving away hundreds of millions of dollars to corporations that don’t need it.”

Innnnteresting. Also surprising, as I’d assumed Del. Lopez was for this deal, along with what appears to be the vast majority of his colleagues in Richmond. I’m curious to find out more about this thinking on this.
