From the DLCC:
All In to Flip Virginia: DLCC Announces Additional $300,000 Pledge to House Caucus
Virginia Democrats continue to massively outraise Republicans
WASHINGTON — After completing a record $1 million investment to flip Virginia’s General Assembly blue, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee is announcing an additional $300,000 pledge to the commonwealth’s Democratic House Caucus.
“Just two months away from the election, it’s clear Democrats have the momentum — but we’re not taking anything for granted,” said DLCC President Jessica Post. “With a record number of candidates running, the DLCC is providing a record amount of support. We’re going all in to flip Richmond blue this November.”
Donating the funds as a matching contribution, the DLCC will help draw additional resources to the House Caucus, effectively doubling the $300,000 contribution. With this new pledge, the DLCC will have contributed $1.3 million to Virginia Democrats — making the organization one of the top contributors, on either side of the aisle, in Virginia this year.
Democratic General Assembly candidates across the commonwealth have continued to massively outraise their Republican opponents, reporting nearly $2 million more in contributions in June and July. With this new pledge, the DLCC will have contributed $800,000 to the Virginia Democratic House Caucus and $500,000 to Senate Democrats — making the organization one of the top contributors, on either side of the aisle, in Virginia this year.
“With every door we knock on and hand we shake, Democrats can feel the momentum to flip the House blue,” said House Democratic Caucus Chair Charniele Herring. “These matching funds from the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee will provide a huge boost to our candidates. Together, we’re fighting to invest in our public schools, protect health care, and finally pass commonsense gun safety legislation.”
The massive investment from the DLCC has enabled Virginia Democrats to hire experienced staff, recruit a record number of candidates and build campaign infrastructure across the state. It’s also sent a clear signal to partner organizations that Democrats could flip both chambers of the General Assembly, leading to the record donations and support seen so far this year.
“The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee recognizes the stakes of this year’s election and they’re going all out to help us flip the House of Delegates blue,” said House Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn. “As we enter the homestretch of this election, our Democratic candidates have the momentum — and the financial support to get across the finish line with a huge win this November.”
