Would have posted this earlier today, but we were having all kinds of tech issues at Blue Virginia, unfortunately. So, better late than never, especially with such an awesome video as the following by Navy veteran and Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02), who declares: “The oath means everything to me and I’ll be damned if I spent 20 years in the Navy to stand by and watch our Constitution be trampled on.” Now, if we only had Republicans who put our democracy before politics…
Congresswoman Elaine Luria Releases Impeachment Video
“Oath” highlights Rep. Luria’s military service and commitment to uphold the Constitution
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, Congresswoman Elaine Luria’s campaign for Congress released a powerful statement connecting her decades of military service as a Navy Commander with her decision to support the impeachment inquiry of President Trump.
The video highlights the oath Congresswoman Luria took seven times throughout her career to support and defend the constitution – an oath that many constituents in the Hampton Roads’ veteran-heavy district of Virginia’s second also took.
Released on Veterans Day, the video aims to cut through the political noise and refocus our attention on our collective mission to support and defend the Constitution. It compels the viewer to acknowledge that President Trump has not upheld his oath and is destroying our democratic institutions by abusing his office for personal gain.
“I took the oath of office for the first time when I was 17 years old and took it five more times over my career and again when sworn into Congress,” said Congresswoman Elaine Luria. “The oath means everything to me and I’ll be damned if I spent 20 years in the Navy to stand by and watch our Constitution be trampled on.”
Congresswoman Elaine Luria represents Virginia’s Second Congressional District, which includes all of Accomack and Northampton Counties, the cities of Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, as well as portions of Norfolk, Hampton, and York and James City Counties.
