The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus Strongly Opposes Plans to Begin Phase One of the “Forward Virginia” Plan on May 15

Richmond, VA – The Virginia Legislative Black Caucus sent the attached letter to Governor Ralph Northam. In this letter the VLBC expresses grave concerns with reopening Virginia’s economy too soon under Phase One of the “Forward Virginia” plan. Our Commonwealth lacks the testing, the economic support structures, and the clarity of governmental guidance needed to reopen at this time. VLBC also asks that the Governor respond to our concerns with an equity-focused plan, that clearly addresses disparities for Black Virginians, Virginians of Color, and other underserved and vulnerable communities.
