Alexsis Rodgers ran an impressive campaign for Mayor of Richmond. Among other things, she rolled out some excellent policy proposals (e.g. see Richmond Mayoral Candidate Alexsis Rodgers Unveils Housing Policy Platform to Dismantle Redlining , Reduce Evictions, Improve Quality of Life, as well as her education platform, her plan to dismantle redlining in housing, her strong environmental plan, etc.). She also raised a lot of money and ended up winning two districts and 26.7% of the vote – good for second place in a six-candidate field. Not too shabby at all!
As Rodgers says in the following statement, officially ending her campaign after Mayor Stoney’s apparent reelection, she “ran an incredibly strong campaign rooted in progressive values under unprecedented circumstances.” Very true, and Rodgers should be commended for doing so. Thank you for running, and for your ongoing “fight for a Richmond that works for all of us.”
