With a likely special election on January 5, 2021 for the HD02 House of Delegates seat being vacated by 2021 gubernatorial candidate Del. Jennifer Carroll Foy, and possibly a Democratic nominating caucus this coming weekend, things are moving quickly. So far, I’ve heard three names for the Democratic nomination, including:

  • Pamela Montgomery – Former Woodbridge Democratic Committee Chair, current Chief of Staff to Woodbridge District  (Prince William County) Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin
  • Rozia Henson – LGBT Woodbridge Democrat, Program Manager at Highlight Technologies
  • Candi King — “a community leader, former small business owner and community relations liaison for a leading non-profit organization.”

See below for Candi King’s press release, which I just got. I’ll post the other ones if/when I get them…

Community Leader Candi King Will Seek Nomination for the 2nd District House of Delegates Seat
DUMFRIES, Va. Candi King — a community leader, former small business owner and community relations liaison for a leading non-profit organization — today filed the paperwork to seek the Democratic nomination for the 2nd District House of Delegates seat:
“I thank Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy for her service. After speaking with my family and supporters, I am humbled to share that I will seek to represent the 2nd District in the House of Delegates. Now more than ever, we need bold, progressive leadership to help us rebuild our communities and economy as we recover from this pandemic. This district is very diverse, and we must name that our Black and Brown communities have been hit disproportionately hard by COVID-19. With more than a decade of experience in government relations, I will use my experience in the General Assembly to hit the ground running on COVID-19 recovery, racial justice and education. I am proud of the work I have done both as a former small business owner and advocate for education to make our world better, and I hope to continue that service in the House of Delegates.”
