Friday (12/4) Virginia Data on COVID-19 Finds +2,877 Confirmed/Probable Cases (to 247,380), +102 Hospitalizations (to 15,116), +13 Deaths (to 4,160)

Third-highest daily COVID-19 cases increase since pandemic began; hospitalizations hover near record high

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (12/4), in Virginia we’re at 247,380 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 15,116 hospitalizations and 4,160 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 2,877 (+1.2%) in the latest statistics, which is a faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 2,023 (+0.8%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 102 (+0.7%), which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 131 (+0.9%).  Deaths are reported +13, compared to +34 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 3,386,624 (up 25,623 from yesterday).
