From the Virginia NAACP:
VIRGINIA NAACP STATEMENT ON THE ROLE OF VIRGINIA LEADERS IN YESTERDAY’S CAPITOL ATTACK ON OUR DEMOCRACY
RICHMOND (January 7, 2020) – Virginia State Conference NAACP President Robert N. Barnette, Jr. released the following statement regarding yesterday’s attack on our democracy:
“Yesterday, we witnessed an insurrection in the U.S. Capitol resulting from years of hatred and bigotry that have been enabled by the president of the United States. The Virginia State Conference NAACP stands with the National NAACP in calling for the immediate impeachment of President Donald Trump and his disqualification from ever holding public office again.
The Virginia State Conference NAACP will not stand idly by and are demanding answers from Representatives Ben Cline, Bob Good, Morgan Griffith, and Robert “Bob” Wittman. Each of them must directly respond to the Black Virginians they represent. Why would they attempt to subvert the will of voters – especially Black voters – across the country by voting to overturn the election results?
Black Virginians deserve answers.”
