According to Michael Jones, a Democratic candidate for Virginia House of Delegates in the 69th district (Richmond City) – who was one of several candidates not given an extension by the State Board of Elections back on March 31 – he has now “exhausted all options to get on the ballot for the upcoming primary.” Jones adds that his campaign “did not find it financially feasible to pursue this matter in court” and that, “After meeting with the State Board of Elections, it was clear that they had no intention to extend the filing deadline or accept the paperwork they already had in their possession as they have done in previous years.” So with that, it appears that Del. Betsy Carr (D) will continue to represent HD69 for at least another term (although note that a term might only be one year, because of late redistricting and the possibility that House of Delegates elections will be held again next year under new lines).
