MCLEAN, VA – The board of Latino and immigrant electoral powerhouse CASA in Action has today endorsed Terry McAuliffe for governor of Virginia. CASA in Action, with nearly 100K lifetime members, is the Mid-Atlantic’s largest electoral organization advocating for immigrant rights. CASA cites Terry’s proven leadership on the economy, his commitment to making health care more affordable and to expand pre-K to every 3 and 4-year-old in need, and his ability to defeat Donald Trump’s brand of politics as reasons for the endorsement. Terry has also been endorsed by several other major national organizations, including the Giffords, Brady PAC, NRDC, Emgage Virginia, the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), UNITE HERE Local 23, and SMART union. “Terry McAuliffe is committed to making health care more accessible and affordable for all Virginians and expanding pre-K, two top priorities for CASA in Action members,” said Alonzo Washington, CASA in Action executive director. “But perhaps even more importantly, he understands the critical role that Virginia plays in showing the nation that the divisive Republican playbook of Trumpism and nativism doesn’t resonate in Virginia or anywhere. We are eager to work with him and his campaign to once again prove to this country that Immigrants Are Virginia!”

Terry has released more than 16 plans to strengthen Virginia’s education system and dramatically increase teacher pay, help secure Virginia’s economic recovery from COVID-19, reform our criminal justice system to create a more equitable Virginia, ensure Virginians have access to regular nutritious meals, address the broken, predatory system of prescription drug pricing, boldly confront the gun violence epidemic, make Virginia the best state in the nation for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Health Care (STEM-H) and computer science education, tackle the housing crisis in the Commonwealth and invest in Virginia’s workforce to create a more equitable post-COVID economy, ensure Virginians have access to high-quality, affordable health care, tackle climate change and secure Virginia’s clean energy future by 2035, lift up Black Virginians as the Commonwealth rebuilds equitably from the COVID-19 pandemic, further advance LGBTQ+ rights, create a flourishing rural economy, support entrepreneurial ecosystems in Virginia, and make health care affordable in Virginia.
