Glenn Youngkin’s Very, Very Bad Week In Review

Richmond, VA — As Terry McAuliffe and Virginia Democrats welcome First Lady Jill Biden and Democratic leaders including Stacey Abrams and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to the Commonwealth to encourage Virginians to vote early, Glenn Youngkin and his campaign had the darkest, most disturbing week yet.

Glenn’s week began by earning Four Pinocchios from The Washington Post for his baseless, Trumpian “election integrity” conspiracy theories and his fabrications about Terry McAuliffe before continuing his full-on embrace of Donald Trump and his election conspiracy theories.

On Wednesday, before she headlined the Trump-Youngkin rally that evening, HuffPost reported on comments made by state Sen. Amanda Chase—Glenn Youngkin’s top Virginia campaign surrogate—where she falsely claimed that Democrats are trying to “steal” the election.

Then, Youngkin and his campaign descended into darkness. Right-wing extremists at the Trump-Youngkin rally on Wednesday in Henrico County pledged their allegiance to a flag that was present at the January 6 insurrection.

If that wasn’t enough, Donald Trump joined the rally for Glenn to voice his total support for Youngkin and his right-wing agenda. Trump made clear that his top priority is advancing his dangerous election conspiracies, and he promised that Glenn will implement his agenda in Virginia. Youngkin has made clear Trump’s agenda is his top priority and said Trump represents “so much of why I’m running.”

This dangerous Trumpian extremism belongs nowhere near the governorship –– and Virginia Democrats will not let Youngkin and Trump take control of our commonwealth.

See below for a recap of Glenn Youngkin’s dark week.

Glenn Collects Four Pinocchios For His Dangerous Election Conspiracies

Glenn Youngkin has said he believes his Trumpian “election integrity” conspiracy theories are “the most important issue” in this campaign. He has repeatedly advanced Trump’s election lies, most recently calling for an audit of Virginia’s voting machines. He refused to say Joe Biden won the 2020 election until after he bought the GOP nomination, and he’s continued to spread Trump’s election conspiracy theories ever since.

Washington Post fact check on Monday yielded Glenn Four Pinocchios for his baseless fabrications about Terry McAuliffe and continued election conspiracies.

Top Youngkin Surrogate Amanda Chase Peddled Trumpian Election Conspiracies On Glenn’s Behalf

Amanda Chase, a top Youngkin surrogate who also attended Donald Trump’s January 6 insurrection, made false claims that Democrats are trying to “steal” the election, saying: “I know how they’re stealing elections, and we’re not gonna let that happen this year.”

Chase went on to say that she has “cleared her schedule” to campaign for Glenn ahead of the November election. Chase also stated that she is working with the Youngkin campaign to stop the “cheating.”

On Friday, a damning editorial from The Washington Post slammed Youngkin and Chase. Chase –– the most divisive, extreme politician in the Commonwealth of Virginia –– is Youngkin’s close friend, top Virginia surrogate and trusted ally.

The Darkest Day: Donald Trump’s Insurrectionist Rally for Glenn Youngkin

The Trump-Youngkin rally, where right-wing extremists pledged allegiance to a flag present on January 6 was the latest disturbing effort by the Trump-Republican ticket in Virginia to push Donald Trump’s baseless conspiracy theories and undermine our democracy.

It’s further proof that Glenn Youngkin and Trump Republicans in Virginia are all in on embracing Donald Trump’s dangerous conspiracies and the violent attack on our democracy on January 6.

On Thursday, Terry McAuliffe demanded Youngkin to disavow the allegiance pledged to the January 6 insurrection flag and denounce Trump’s dangerous election conspiracy lies. Gov. Ralph Northam, who sent Virginia State Troopers and the Virginia National Guard to the Capitol on Jan. 6, slammed Youngkin for his refusal to condemn the rally.
