Virginia Del. Don Scott (D-Portsmouth) seems to be giving a superb speech every other day during the 2022 General Assembly session. Today was no exception, as Del. Scott talked about African-American history, about how we are all connected through time, about planting a tree “under whose shade he will never sit,” about honoring our veterans, about praying for Ukraine, etc. As VAPLAN/Cindy tweeted, as Del. Scott spoke this morning:

@DonScott757 gives beautiful House floor speech today. Says he hopes like those who plant trees knowing they will never sit under their shade that they in the General Assembly are planting trees [of equity and humanity for all] whose shade future generations will lie in. @DonScott757 adds that “we African-Americans, we believe in this America, we *believe* in this dream. I’m going to always reserve the right to challenge this country, it is the only country that I know.”
