Far-right extremist Vega impugns federal law enforcement to the “deep state”; calls FBI “corrupt”

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The campaign of Rep. Abigail Spanberger – a former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer – today released a new digital ad, “Against.”

The ad slamming Spanberger’s far-right opponent highlights Yesli Vega’s voting record. As a member of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, Vega voted three times against funding county police.

Narrator:

Did you know that Yesli Vega voted against police funding?

Not once, not twice, but three times.

She voted against our police and sheriffs.

Yesli Vega won’t keep us safe.

In addition to her votes against police funding in Prince William County, Yesli Vega has recently fundraised off the FBI’s legal search of former President Donald Trump’s estate in Mar-a-Lago. Vega called the FBI “corrupt,” and impugned the law enforcement agency as the “deep state.” This rhetoric is in line with Vega’s defense of the insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021.

Spanberger is working tirelessly in the U.S. House of Representatives to build coalitions and enact commonsense legislation that will keep Virginians safe. That is why Spanberger introduced the bipartisan Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) on the Beat Program Reauthorization and Parity Act that would increase officer pay, fund community policing initiatives, and help police departments hire more officers.

Spanberger’s legislation is endorsed by local police chiefs, sheriffs, and received backing from the National Fraternal Order of Police.

Earlier this year, she was ranked the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia and one of the most bipartisan Members of Congress overall.
